Want to know what it's like to experience the sensations that AFL players experience when they're out on the field? Then say hello to Foxtel's Alert Shirt. Alert Shirt converts live game data into powerful sensations that are experienced instantly by the wearer of a custom built AFL jersey. Physical sensations mimicked by the shirt include pressure, impact, despair, exhaustion and adrenalin.

We worked alongside CHE Proximity and Wearable Experiments to build a server application that could deliver real-time AFL data from Champion Data to thousands of connected users. It's not the first time we've had to integrate in real-time with Champion Data – we were also responsible for the development of Carlton Draught Pick – an iOS game that you can play along with live televised footy.

In both instances, we've been challenged to use real-time sports data to deliver a seamlessly integrated experience, as well as develop a highly scalable hosting solution that can handle peak loads at any given point in time.

"Through our experience working on Draught Pick and Alert Shirt we've gained a unique capability to develop real-time applications that tap into data sets such as Champion Data," said Ben Pearson, Lead Mobile Developer at Inlight. "We're pretty excited about the highly engaging experiences that real-time can deliver for our clients. Alert Shirt is just another example of using real-time data to push the boundaries of fan engagement and interaction."
