What happened in social media 2012

2012 was another huge year in the social media world. Businesses that have ignored social media on the basis that it must be a passing fad now have a lot of catching up to do, whilst brands such as Coca Cola, American Express and Nike continue to innovate and find new ways to engage their fans.

In Australia, social media has become integrated into our everyday lives. According to a recent report by Sensis, 62% of Internet users have a presence on social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn. Facebook still dominates capturing 97% of social networking users and average users spending more than six hours a week on the site. There's no doubt that social media in Australian is maturing and the increasing number of consumers using social media sites presents a huge opportunity for brands. We hope you've got your social media strategy in place for 2013.
