Career wise, do you try to emulate anyone, or do you draw any inspiration from any particular individuals?
I’ve always had a keen interest in the film industry and Pixar captured my imagination at an early age, continuing early on in my career after reading To Infinity and Beyond: The Story of Pixar and later through Creativity Inc. Their focus through ten years of working towards Toy Story, eagerness to push their limits, democratisation of the creative process, and relentless attention to detail is truly inspiring.
Tell us something interesting about you... do you have an unusual talent? Secretly running a popular insta page? Inlight employee by day, BJJ champion by night?
I used to run one of the largest YouTube apps on Facebook back in the late 2000s, serving videos of talking dogs and lightsaber wielding kids to over half a million people every day until they integrated the feature natively and stole my thunder 😤
These days I spend my time plotting my revenge against Zuckerberg.
Give us a bit of an idea of what’s on your bookshelf...anything you think is left of field?
Right now I’m just getting to the ‘edge of your seat’ section of Touching the Void by Joe Simpson, which is the true story of two arctic climbers struggle to escape disaster at the peak of a 21,000-foot mountain in the Andes. Before that I was reading about our closest reference for what an alien species might look like in Other Minds: The Octopus and the Evolution of Intelligent Life. Did you know that Octopuses have a brain in every tentacle? You do now.
How do you find living and working down under?
Can I talk about the times I swam with Manta Rays on the Ningaloo Reef, spent Christmas on the beach in St Kilda, or watched countless fiery red sunsets in the outback?
It’s a pretty awesome country and Melbourne is the place to be when it comes to finding that perfect work/life balance.
It’s lunch-time at Inlight, where are you going to eat?
Honestly? There’s too many options to choose from… eggplant parmas at The Birmingham, Melbourne’s best(?) ramen at Shop Ramen, $4 pizzas at Bimbo’s, amazing vegan cuban’s at Smith & Deli. Inlight is located in one of Melbourne's best spots for food!
