Inlight farewells CEO as Founder returns to the helm

Melbourne based digital services business, Inlight have announced a changing of the guard, with incumbent CEO Mark Oliver departing after four years of leading the business.

The move sees co-founder Patrick Carne take the reins, a position he is well versed in, having previously led the business from inception (2008) until 2015. Carne has returned to Inlight following six years building, leading and eventually selling software company Lighthouse.io (now TEAM Software), both domestically and in the U.S.

Carne brings a wealth of experience to the role, having started his career at Deloitte Digital (previously Eclipse) and branching out to start Inlight at the age of 23 alongside co-founder and Inlight CTO, Tony Milne. A muliti-disciplinary leader, Carne is well credentialed in digital product design, development, strategy and client experience, and will use this breadth of experience from both digital services and software businesses to help push Inlight and its diverse client base forward.

Of Inlight’s future, Carne is buoyant, stating that “the market is primed right now to utilise digital service providers that operate at the enterprise level, but have the agility to deliver tangible improvements quickly and drive immediate value back to users. As Inlight continues to build its strategy team and partner network, we are able to provide a consistent customer experience, with the depth and specialisation of industry leaders.”

Oliver directed Inlight through significant growth during his tenure, building out the businesses’ strategy offering, cultivating the fledgling Inlight Partner Network, and solidifying Inlight’s position as a leading provider of complex technology solutions.

The leadership change coincides with a number of other significant shifts for the business with Inlight’s new Clifton Hill office opening its doors this month and a remit expansion for two other senior leaders. Client Services Director, Steph Webster will step into the newly created Chief Commercial Officer role, leveraging her deep understanding of digital services, client needs and industry trends, to drive further opportunities of growth within Inlight’s existing client accounts and new relationships. Meanwhile, Design Director Harley Donaldson will now oversee the business’ creative and strategy offerings, a consolidation of two disciplines that are seen as intrinsically linked in the digital problem-solving space.

The convergence of these changes are pointing to an exciting year for Inlight. The business will continue to push its growth ambitions, whilst at the same time re-centring around some of the key success pillars that have been the hallmark of Inlight for many years - collaboration, client and team experience, and taking pride and joy in delivering exceptional digital solutions.
